WK1- Project 1 Progress Report-Due Sunday 1/23

Every week we will complete a report describing your progress on Project 1 Digital Matte Painting. Each weekly report is an integral part of your final for Project 1. It is important to complete each report accurately so you have the information to put together your final work for Project 1.

By Sunday a formal report must be posted (by you) describing your design direction for the your Digital Matte Painting. The report should consist of the follow criteria.

  1. (3) Sketches of possible ideas, Use any of the following methods below for creating your sketches:
    -Use your drawing tablet to draw sketches
    -Use a mouse to draw the sketches
    -Draw sketches by hand and scan them in as JPGs
    -Create a digital montage by using collage.

  2. (3) brief explanations of each idea, the explanations should be no longer then (6) sentences and describe your design rationale.

  3. Research to locate (5 - 10) appropriate images for your Digital Matte Project. You can either scan, take any photographs, or locate on the Internet high resolution images of objects you wish to use in your design. If borrowed, include with each image an MLA citation of the author and location of found image.

  4. (5-10) brief descriptions of how each of these images fit into your proposed plan. Do this by submitting a narrative with each image. In your descriptions tell how the images carry out the ideas proposed in your sketch work.

  5. For all photographs, artwork, phrases or design elements borrowed from other sources and NOT created by you an MLA citations must be attached citing the author or creator of the original work.

To submit this report for grading you will need to use either a word processor program or InDesign to create the report. If you are using InDesign to create the report export out a PDF to submit for grading. To create the report import JPG image scans of your sketch work and your images into a word processor program and write briefly next to each sketch and image describing your design rationale. Always include your lastname in front of the filename so I can identify your work. (i.e. lastname_Project1 report) You will attach the document and any other materials to this assignment area. Remember if you have multiple files or additional materials create a .zip file first of all your documents and attach everything as one document. DO NOT SUBMIT ANY DOCUMENTS LARGER THEN 25 MGS. If you have large files, you will need to res them down to 72 dpi to ensure they can be transfered over the Internet.
