  9. Locate an antique photo that has been damaged or create a damaged photograph.

  10. Locate a photo you would like to apply a custom filter to or use a painting effect on.

Image Criteria (applies to all images)

  1. The first thing to determine about your images is if they are the right size. All images for this project must be at least 5 x 7 or 750 x 1050 pixels. When you change the resolution as discussed below, Photoshop will tell you what size your image is. You should have at least a 5" x 7" image to work with. An image that is larger then 5" x 7" is fine, but a smaller image is not usable for this project.

  2. The second thing to look for is resolution, most images taken with a digital camera are great for this project because they will more then likely have enough resolution to work with. You will need at least 150 dpi. Many images shot with digital cameras are 72dpi but are very large in size, which means if you open them into Photoshop and use the resolution fix I demonstrated in the WK2 Video- Working with Image Resolution. This will make all your images 150dpi and they should work fine for this project. You can either watch the video or follow the instructions below to change the resolution of all the images.

  3. In Photoshop using the top menu bar, Pull down to Image > Image Size Options to change the resolution of each image to 150dpi.

  4. (CS6 users) Turn OFF the following check boxes before you change the image resolution, Uncheck - Scale Styles, Uncheck -Constrain Proportions, Uncheck - Resample image

    (CC users) Uncheck - Resample

  5. In the Resolution Field > Type in 150, look at the Width and Height of the image, it should read at least 5" x 7" to be used for this project.

  6. The third thing you should look for is if the image has good quality, is the image in focus and does it exhibit good clarity in terms of sharpness.

Digital Scrapbook Criteria. (submit (1) final .pdf document)

  1. Final PDF document should be 8.5 x 11 landscape format, 150 dpi or higher

  2. All scrapbooks must have a cover design created by the student.

  3. All scrapbooks must have a table of contents describing what type of color or image correction is being done on each page.

  4. The final scrapbook should consist of (10) inside pages, a page for each color or image correction

  5. Each page should consist of (2) images per page, (1) original image and (1) corrected image, side-by-side

  6. Each image should be labeled accordingly, original or corrected based on the file name

  7. Each image should have a watermark designed by the student and placed somewhere inside the image.

If you have question about how to make your final digital scrapbook be sure to watch the WK6 Lecture Videos on how to put the scrapbook together. Print the handout below and have it available while watching the video so you can jot down notes and follow along.
