Submit WK5 Project 1 Progress Report

WK 5- Project 1 Famous Person or Event Content Search- Due Sunday, 9/25 midnight

This week you should be moving along on your famous person or event project.

You should also watch all the WK5 Lecture Videos posted this week on preparing your images in Photoshop based on your sketches. We will eventually bring the images into InDesign to begin building your documents for the layout series. You will also get Instructor Feedback on your sketch concept from last week and you should begin to locate text content, photography and illustration for the production phase of this project.

As mention above you will begin to collect content you might use inside your layout series. Using the Identify your Content handout you will create a report detailing what content you plan to use in your layouts.

The report this week will also be the second report of what will eventually become your Bibliography page of your process PDF, which is due at the end of the project.

The following criteria should be part of the WK5 Progress Report.

  1. Locate and collect all the images you plan to use for your layout series, remember the rule of only using each image once in the project. Collect enough images so you have image choices. The more you have, the more flexible you can become with your design.

  2. You will need to watch the video on WK5 Working with resolution, I review how to change the resolution of the image and what file format you should save your files in. All images for this project should be 150-200dpi, save all files out in either of the following formats, PSD, TIFF or EPS. I will dock points if the resolution and file formats criteria is not followed. You should not use any JPG, PNG or GIF images for this project, these file formats are reserved for web graphics.

  3. Place below each image in your report an MLA citation, if image is borrowed.
-NOTE: It is recommended that you create your own original artwork, photography, illustration & info graphics for this project. However, if you appropriate others works or borrow content from other artists/writers you should keep it under 25%; at least 75% of what you use in this project must be original. Written material is subject to the same consideration, but I'm flexible in that you can use 100% of others written content but be sure at the end of the project you create MLA citations of all borrowed written works. As you choose your image content, remember you should only use all your images once, repeated images causes viewers to get bored and lose interest.

  4. If you created the content yourself you will need to make an ownership statement, so I am aware you are the author.

  5. Draft the body copy you are considering for the layout series, narrow down what copy will be headlines, subhead and captions.

  6. Include any info graphic ideas you will create and flush out what they may look like and what statistics are needed to make them effective.

While creating your report, shoot pictures of any materials necessary to make your point clear. Include the visuals inside the report and explain what they mean and where you will use them. Click here to see a sample of a WK5 Student Report.

To submit this report for grading you will use InDesign to create the report. Place images inside InDesign and provide below them a written explanation of their use in the project. Once you have created the InDesign report you will need to export your file out as a PDF.  You will attach the document and any other materials to this assignment area. All files submitted to the eCampus classroom must be labeled properly in order to receive proper credit for you work. Label your PDF file with your lastname_Content Report. Remember if you have multiple files or additional materials create a .zip file first of all your documents and attach everything as one document. DO NOT SUBMIT ANY DOCUMENTS LARGER THEN 25 MGS. If you have large files, you will need to res them down to 72 dpi to ensure they can be transfered over the Internet.
